Jon Burgerman's Solo Show, Hypercolourphagia
For those of you with a passion for all things colourful, shiny, small and plasticy, British artist Jon Burgerman is currently exhibiting a new series of large paintings at the ROJO artspace in Barcelona, entitled Hypercolourphagia, and if you're curious -- 'phagia' is GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK for 'to eat'. Looking at Burgerman's work I am not sure who is eating who though; I'm standing in front of the giant canvasses and the staring eyes of his doodle characters size me up, its eat or be eaten in his day-glo jungle.
The exhibition is from the 8th -- 30th November, so you have a few days left, Barcelona isn't that far, honest! Burgerman is one of the emerging stars of the designer character art scene, and though his work enjoys a widespread online presence, he doesnt exhibit much, so if you are trying to think of a cool weekend away in these chilly November climbs, you could do worse than lapping up some hypercolour and eating paella in sunny Barcelona. Plus, and most importantly, the boy wonder is hot stuff!
