This is perhaps one of the most highly anticipated sequels for sci-fi geeks and fans of the X-Files series (which I would think are one and the same). The original film was great fun and definitely one of my favorite sci-fi movies, so I am pleased to finally see a trailer for it. It's a bootleg trailer so just be happy with it until the official one hits the internet. If this video is pulled, my apologies. I'll try to make sure there is a working video until the suits get them all. Have fun!
That theme, it always makes me smile. Behold! The trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! We see Dr. Jones doing all sorts of things, even a romp through what looks like the same storage warehouse where the Ark was put at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That instantly grabbed my attention and I'm looking forward to learning more about it when the film arrives on May 22, 2008. We also get a glimpse at Shia LaBeouf. Such a cutie. This is definitely one of my most anticipated films of the year. Anyways, enjoy the trailer!
Will O'Wisp, I know you love Shakespear's Sister, but you have to admit that what French & Saunders have done to videos for "Stay" and "I Don't Care" is absolutely fabulous. Above you can view their parody of the aforementioned videos, lovingly put together as one called "Destiny." If you would like to see the original video for "Stay," just make the jump. Enjoy!
One of my favorite directors, Guillermo del Torro ("Pan's Labyrinth," "The Devil's Backbone," Hellboy") is in talks with New Line Cinema to direct the much anticipated book-to-film adaptation of The Hobbit. I truly hope this goes through as his vision of fantasy would be a great fit in this universe. The two films, yes two, will have a combined budget of $300 million (the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy had a budget of $270 million). If you're not familiar with The Hobbit, read this fancy blockquote for a brief overview...and I do mean brief:
Tolkien's 1937 prequel to 'Rings' centered on Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who joins a group of dwarves and the wizard Gandalf on a quest to find the treasure of a dragon named Smaug.
There you go. The first part of "The Hobbit" is expected to come out in 2010, followed by the second half in 2011. Man, that is on hell of a wait, but it should be well worth it. The powers that be have yet to hire a writer, but that process will reportedly be fast tracked once the writer's strike has come to an end.
So, Guillermo del Torro helming "The Hobbit"...good or bad?
I've heard all sorts of things that make me wonder how good this latest "re-imagining" project will turn out. From the wonderfully hand crafted sets being replaced with computer graphics to just getting their act together in every way. Only time will tell, but the first fruit, if you can call it that, of their work has finally made the jump from bootleg to official.
Star Trek's teaser trailer has finally been released on the film's official website. The first thing that surprised me was that the ship appears to be the Enterprise A model, not the Enterprise from the original series. I'm not disappointed at all since I am a huge fan of the original six films and the original series (sorry, I love TNG, but not the films, though First Contact was splendid). It was certainly good to see that ship again. The teaser's climax consists of a view of the Enterprise's name and saucer coupled with Leonard Nimoy's classic rendition of, "Space...the Final Frontier." That was enough to get me all hot and bothered, and then they top it off with the classic Starfleet emblem with the original transporter sound in the background. Wonderful.
